Our History
The Douglas Stewart Company was founded by Mr. Douglas Stewart, former manager of the University Bookstore at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Mr. Stewart established his own distribution company in 1950 to help college bookstores source products to meet the unique needs of faculty, administrators, and students.

Since its inception, The Douglas Stewart Company has been a leader in introducing technology to the education market and providing value-added services to resellers and vendor partners. From its role as the first distributor to introduce electronic calculators to campus bookstores, to creating the first academically-priced software distribution program for college stores and academic resellers, The Douglas Stewart Company strives to continuously innovate on behalf of its customers.

Today, The Douglas Stewart Company serves more than 4,500 college bookstores, academic computing centers, and value-added resellers across both higher education and K-12.
